Contact | Production Studio with Purpose
14 years of changing lives–one film at a time.
KITS Production Studio with Purpose [PSWP] opened its doors in March 2023 to change life outcomes for youth with lived experience in foster care by increasing career readiness, social capital, and resiliency. PSWP projects to generate over 800 paid work opportunities annually as a workforce development program.
Operating as a social enterprise, PSWP will leverage the tools and labor income of the entertainment industry to provide racial and economic equity to L.A.’s most underserved youth through workplace training in film production.
KITS offers industry professionals the opportunity to pay it forward by renting PSWP studio sets for their productions, while hiring KITS alumni on production sets, giving youth formerly from the foster care system opportunities to grow their resumes, expand their networks, and to be hired onto other projects as well. Placemaking, however, is ultimate impact of the PSWP. It is hard to overstate the value, for young people harmed by ongoing displacement, the value of having a place to belong.
PSWP operates seven days a week providing transitional age youth ages 18-24 access to creative opportunities, hands-on sector-based job training, and paid work opportunities, empowering them to achieve their goals and become leaders in their communities.
Renting production space from our studio comes with two trained PAs impacted by foster care and looking to have successful careers in the entertainment industry.
Calling all filmmakers: Bring your cinematic vision to life with over 5,300 square feet of production space while paying it forward for youth impacted by foster care.
The kids expressed the invaluable excitement in learning from diverse individuals who look like them, professionals who took the time to give back and serve their community. From the alums who served as tour guides to our fantastic community of industry professionals who came in to teach, the students were able to see the incredible things they have been able to achieve and were able to dream bigger about the amazing opportunities they themselves can reach in the near future.
